Six Flags

The kids had been asking to go to Six Flags for their annual Holiday In the Park, but we just couldn't seem to fit it into the schedule and then the weather turned cold. Plus the cost of going had me second guessing taking a family of five for just a few hours right after the expense of Christmas.

I had been given a free ticket by a friend that expired on Jan. 2nd. On New Year's Day, we decided to make a girls day of it and go for the afternoon. When we were going up to purchase our tickets, someone approached us to buy tickets just like what my friend had given me. So for the cost of $20 ($10 p/ticket plus the free ticket), the three of us were able to get into the park.

The park was not crowded at all and we were able to get right on most of the rides. The park was beautifully decorated. They had vendor booths sit up around the park in more of a fair type setting selling anything from fajitas, nachos, tator swirls on a stick, kettle corn, hot chocoloate, cider, barbeque, etc. Then the park had their booths with holiday cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, popcorn, funnel cakes, etc. We purchase a holiday in the park mug and were able to get free hot drinks all day long. The girls split a funnel cake. I talked them into waiting to eat after we left the park since it closed at 7:00 that night.

On the way home we stopped and had a wonderful dinner at Olive Garden. It took us many hours to warm up. Our legs and feet were so cold from being outside for 5 hours at 30 degrees, but it was well worth it and a very memorable afternoon with my daughter and her friend Peighton.

Laundry

Last week-end, I was shopping for a new area rug for our family room. I stumbled across this cute rug to put in the laundry room. I knew it would match my washer & dryer perfectly.

I LOVE IT!

It really adds a little special touch to my laundry room and brightens up the room. Oh the little things in life that make me happy.

Swim Lessons

I've been meaning for quite some time to get Christopher into swim lessons. Every year after school would get out, I would have good intentions to sign him up for the summer. Well he is now four, and I knew that I had to get him some formal training. His no fear of the water was starting to make me nervous.

I decided over the holiday to take him to Aqua Kids where Josh & Makenzie went years ago. I knew we couldn't make it daily, so every Friday morning for the next 20 weeks we have swim lessons.

He has already made huge progress over the past two lessons. Ms Rachel is a wonderful teacher and is so patient with the kids. I can not wait to see where he is at the end of the season.

New Year's Resolution

I resolved to start blogging again this year. I hesitate to even admit how many years it has been. Where do the years go anyway? I love reading blogs and get many inspirational ideas from them. They are a great way to keep up with friends and family in this busy season of life. Since my scrapbooking days are few and far between, I felt this was a great alternative to document the milestones in our lifes. Here's to a New Year and keeping some resolutions!
