Six Flags

The kids had been asking to go to Six Flags for their annual Holiday In the Park, but we just couldn't seem to fit it into the schedule and then the weather turned cold. Plus the cost of going had me second guessing taking a family of five for just a few hours right after the expense of Christmas.

I had been given a free ticket by a friend that expired on Jan. 2nd. On New Year's Day, we decided to make a girls day of it and go for the afternoon. When we were going up to purchase our tickets, someone approached us to buy tickets just like what my friend had given me. So for the cost of $20 ($10 p/ticket plus the free ticket), the three of us were able to get into the park.

The park was not crowded at all and we were able to get right on most of the rides. The park was beautifully decorated. They had vendor booths sit up around the park in more of a fair type setting selling anything from fajitas, nachos, tator swirls on a stick, kettle corn, hot chocoloate, cider, barbeque, etc. Then the park had their booths with holiday cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, popcorn, funnel cakes, etc. We purchase a holiday in the park mug and were able to get free hot drinks all day long. The girls split a funnel cake. I talked them into waiting to eat after we left the park since it closed at 7:00 that night.

On the way home we stopped and had a wonderful dinner at Olive Garden. It took us many hours to warm up. Our legs and feet were so cold from being outside for 5 hours at 30 degrees, but it was well worth it and a very memorable afternoon with my daughter and her friend Peighton.
